What is it?

The Internship Program of NCYM offers a wide variety of training and development opportunities. Many interns work with youth or children at local meetings within the Yearly Meeting. There are also opportunities to gain experience in pastoral ministry or missions. Often an intern will try his or her hand at various avenues of ministry, providing a broader experience which may aid in the discernment process.

Becoming an Intern . . .

If you are interested in becoming an intern, here are some things for you to consider. As an intern, you will be able to:

  • gain insight into your spiritual gifts and calling through both training and hands on experience
  • make a difference in the lives of others by sharing God's love
  • grow and stretch your own spiritual life
  • serve part-time while you work or go to school
  • minister at a monthly meeting or mission site within or outside of the United States

As an intern, you would serve for a term of at least 8 weeks totaling at least 160 hours.  Interns are responsible for keeping up with their hours and attending regularly scheduled meetings for worship, Bible study, and/or the gathering of specific groups of your work (children, youth, seniors, etc.).  They provide proper promotional information and a calendar of events related to their work at the service site. Regular meetings with the pastor or other mentor at the site are also a priority. Interns are expected to attend Yearly Meeting sessions and to encourage participation in Yearly Meeting activities from their service site.
